SCS Software's blog: World of Trucks Contracts questions answered!

SwordandKeyboard.com Reports:

SCS Software's blog: World of Trucks Contracts questions answered!: Greetings! Since the start of ETS Update 1.22 open beta,

Q & A

Q: Why is there the same limit of 6 hours for all contracts?
A: Right now during the initial tests, we have fixed the time limit to be the same relatively short time window. There may be multiple server restarts during beta updates, and we wanted to avoid frustrating players who are mid-delivery if longer delivery times were available initially. In the future we plan to enhance this functionality, the time limit will be set individually depending on the job. Contract delivery limits are tightly related to implementation of future gameplay, and there are various consequences of what will happen if cargo expires (please stay tuned for that).

Q: I want to drive to pick up my World of Truck job, not be “teleported” to it.
A: This is perfectly understandable, we aim to make this possible in a future World of Trucks update, for now we have started with the simplest possible "quick job" type of setup.

Q: Are you planning to convert your Single player game to Multiplayer?
A: World of Trucks is envisioned as an optional layer created alongside the existing single player game. We will keep improving the singleplayer experience and add more features and content to the standard game, but we do not want to overhaul it and "fix" what most players would not consider broken. World of Trucks should -eventually - offer an alternate "metagame" with rich - but controlled - player to player interaction, the possibility to form Virtual Truck Companies, and eventually to make it possible to share the same world and make up convoys in a shared multiplayer game.

Q: The game is enforcing 90km/h speed limit for all World of Trucks contracts. I want to disable it. Why can’t I?
A: As the future of World of Trucks is the same universe shared by many players, we have to make sure all players are on the same footing and have equal opportunities as well as limitations. At the moment we are looking for the right balance between strict control of certain aspects of gameplay and the ability to customize the experience according to player's preferences. In any case, at the core of the game there must be a set of "canonical" rules that everybody will have to adhere to so that there is fair comparison between players and their skills. The speed limiter currently looks like a solid candidate for such a limitation - otherwise people bending physical and legal rules would have an edge over players playing by the book.

Q: Can I change my starting city on World of Trucks?
A: You will be able to re-select it after Beta. However, you don’t really have to do that. There’s no long-term consequence there, there is no such thing as a wrongly selected starting place. This selection is needed just to start you on the string of World of Trucks jobs.

Q: Why there are no World of Trucks contracts to and from Scandinavia?
A: Currently only the base game is connected to World of Trucks. Please be patient with us, we are already working on the system to allow you to connect Going East!, Scandinavia and any future map DLC’s to World of Trucks.

Q: I’m confused about WOTR Time and Game Time concepts, why introduce another clock if we already are used to how things work with the game time?
A: Based on initial feedback, it looks like we need to improve the presentation of the World of Trucks time in the game and on the site. The whole system is based on real time, not on "compressed" game time, for logical reasons - when there are thousands of people playing the game and sharing the same persistent job data, they cannot each use their local game time to coordinate their activities. And it had better be based on a globally understandable concept of time - like Coordinate Universal Time - rather than something artificial again. So all the servers will be using World of Trucks time, but for player comfort, this may eventually be adjustable to your local time zone, and also we'll try to adjust things to displaying relative time left until a deadline instead of any absolute time listed.

Q: I don't see how much money I get for World of Trucks contracts on the web?
A: What we are launching now is an intermediary step, a hybrid combining the standard single player game with a persistent online system. We will introduce a totally separate economy system into World of Trucks later, using different rates and costs (closer to real world) than what we established a few years ago already for the needs of the accelerated single player game. It may be a little bit confusing right now, as you are receiving in-game money for World of Trucks contracts, but it won’t be so forever.

Q: Why don't I see fuel consumption for WOTR jobs?
A: We are working on it as we speak and hopefully by the end of beta it will be enabled in some form. Proper handling of fuel consumption and associated expenses will be a part of a later stage of development of World of Trucks when we introduce more of VTC gameplay. As of now with any truck you drive, fuel is still consumed, it's just not so simple for us to report it as the online Contract job may be interrupted or even interlaced with a standard single player job.

Q: I’d like to see a map displayed on World of Trucks to help me choose my next contract.
A: We’d like you to see it as well. And we are working on it :).

Extras

Q: What happened to Volvo trucks sounds?
A: Currently the sfx are undergoing equalization polish. Especially the in-cabin sound is indeed somewhat in “unbalanced” state. This game update is introducing a new batch of recent real truck sound recordings into the game, things are still a bit raw in current betas.

The World needs you ..do something

The World needs you ..do something

Hello there.
I feel lucky, My house is warm, i have a full re fridge of food and can foods in my basement.
Just had a yummy breakfast and typing this from my living room rocking chair.
I am a very lucky man.
I … i…. i…. me… me… me… point of this is not me..
quote-our-lives-are-to-be-used-and-thus-to-be-lived-as-fully-as-possible-and-truly-it-seems-harry-chapin-55-57-78

For 20 years i’ve listened and watched the world hungerthon on various local tv and
listened on radio. This year it really hit me for some reason.
Maybe there’s a way I could help. I been sick awhile myself and take care of a blind person.
So alot of time im in my own world. Thinking of my issues. But really I am lucky.
So last few nights and days I been tweeting, emailing, streaming, and just trying to just get people
to think about others that don’t have the vary basic thing we need as a human.
Nutrition. My 10 or 12 hours of talking to people in teamspeaks, vox, text, may result in planting a seed (see what i did there)
in peoples minds to do something.
”When in doubt do something positive. ” So i donated my time. Last year I donated warm clothes,
and food throughout the year to my local shelter.
This year I spend 10-15 hours just chatting with people about hunger.
Whatever your passion may be to help a fellow person.. do it. Don’t wait..take action.
there's things you can do even if it is not a money donation.. grow some veggies during the summer and donate them to the shelter..
tell your neighbors your collecting old coats to bring to a shelter.
(i’m going to volunteer my time every year now doing what i did this week. it cost me nothing and more I spoke about the topic
the more I would look for questions people might have making me more knowledgeable)
I want to share this site if you don’t mind… I been watching or listening to it every Tuesday for 20+ years on New York radio and tv.
The sites was created about a organization Harry Chapin (http://www.harrychapinmusic.com/ ) made in the 80’s.
What people don’t know is Harry donated like 75% of his money to feeding people that needed help.
don’t think about money or donating.. just read the site and think… what can you do for people?
thanks for taking time to read this poorly written wall of text. on your busy day.

ArchAge players accuse video game developers of violating consumer laws

SAN MATEO, Calif. (Legal Newsline) — Three video gamers recently sued the developer of a “free-to-play” game over allegations that it misrepresented the game.
Aaron Van Fleet, Paul Ovberg and James Longfield, on behalf of themselves and others similarly situated, filed a class-action lawsuit in September in California Superior Court, San Mateo County against Trion Worlds, Inc. for allegedly violating the Unfair Competition Law, False Advertising Law and Consumer Legal Remedies Act, as well as for negligent misrepresentation.
The case has since been removed to federal court.
Trion Worlds is the developer of a game called ArchAge, which is marketed as a “free-to-play” game in which players either advance through playing the game, or by purchasing virtual game goods with real world money or purchasing a subscription service.
The plaintiffs allege the company violated California law by failing to provide customers with the benefits it promises players who purchase game goods. Each of the plaintiffs allegedly spent $149.99 on a founders pack, which promised each player a “Patron” status for discounts and virtual gaming goods.
The plaintiffs allege, however, that the defendant did not honor its promises and has therefore violated consumer laws.
They are suing for restitution damages, an injunction against the defendant from further unlawful acts, court costs and attorney fees, and any other rewards deemed proper by the court. They are represented by attorneys Susan S. Brown, Karl Olson and Michael F. Ram of Ram, Olson Cereghino & Kopcyzynski LLP in San Francisco; Toby J. Marshall of Terrell Marshall Daudt & Willie PLLC in Seattle; and Venkat Balasubramani of Focal PLLC in Seattle.

Written for my friend at SwordandKeyboard.com
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Buckle up! I know alot about mmo’s, I was a spokes man for the first mmo World of Warcraft.
MMO furniture wars. It’s 2015, we killed each other enough, killed enough Murlocs
Quagen, Wolf’s, Worms, Centaurs, Orcs, Gnomes and other various creators.
I’ts just not any fun killing stuff anymore. So I told all the devs of various games, lets just all
make furniture, for are virtual houses. Devs said hey that might be a great Idea Jim,
we can sell all those houses and make millions. Instead of making games we can just be like Ikea but virtual furniture outlets.
I’t all started that way. I,  Captain Kirk came up with the idea. Now like 5 of the top mmo’s in development are selling make believe ships, cars, houses and furniture for millions of dollars.
Even better and more peaceful, you don’t even get to use them just look at pictures of those items,
this way making it more echo friendly. You can look at pictures of the stuff you bought then log off saving tons of money on the electric bill. You can brag to your neighbors about the $457 dollars you spent for a virtual castle and how by doing that your lessening your personal echo foot print
and helping stop global warming . They will think you are a hero rather then the weirdo down the street that never comes out of the house and has daily delivery’s from dominoes, larry’s sub shop andPiggly Wiggly.  Does not matter your lawn is 2 feet long, and garbage not put out in a decade. They all will know now you Sir are an environmentalist.
I as a spokesman for gaming think everyone should buy at least $100 worth of virtual home goods a month. It will kick start the economy. Especially with the success of Ikea and home goods, and more and more women playing, and guys that like pink fluffy stuff, why not, I can see a full blown industrial boom of virtual furniture, billion people buying virtual furniture saves on waste, saves trees, energy, and will greatly reduce the worlds carbon foot print.
Grand Parents just died? Hit the lottery? came into huge wealth. Blow it all on your favorite game..
